About April
As a counselor at Counseling for Healthy Minds in Rockwall, Texas, April helps clients manage anxiety, depression, PTSD, divorce issues, low self-esteem, social skills, aging concerns, relationships, and cognitive challenges like ADD/ADHD, learning differences, brain injuries, and dementia. She creates a supportive space where clients build coping and emotional management skills to deal with life’s challenges.
April’s primary objective is to assist clients in navigating life transitions, addressing learning differences, managing cognitive challenges, and coping with emotional instability—all within a compassionate and supportive environment. Through the development of self-management techniques, including mindfulness, and effective coping strategies, clients can build resilience and improve their overall well-being.
She began her career as a School Psychologist in New York, where she counseled children on school issues, bullying, social skills, and emotional struggles. With a passion for working with children and teens, she integrates art into therapy to help them express themselves.
After relocating to Texas, April worked with brain injury patients and became a Certified Brain Injury Specialist (CBIS) in 2019. She later specialized in neuropsychological assessment as a Psychometrist and has experience in psychiatric hospitals, where she uses Cognitive Therapy to help clients shift negative thought patterns.
As a trained Counselor, April specializes in anxiety, depression, PTSD, and cognitive impairments such as learning differences, ADD/ADHD, concussion, TBI, stroke, and dementia. She works with clients to help them understand and manage these challenges, fostering empowerment and emotional stability.
